The NUC has ordered the closure of universities in preparation for the 2023 elections.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has ordered that all universities and inter-university centers be closed between February 22nd and March 14th. The NUC announced that there would be no academic activities during the shutdown. The announcement was made in a statement signed by Chris Maiyaki, Deputy Executive Secretary (Administration). The decision was made in response to concerns about the security of staff, students, and university property during the general elections scheduled for February 25–March 14.
