Las Vegas police arrested a man Tuesday for the murder of two-year-old Amari Nicholson. ???This case started out as a missing persons investigation, and unfortunately, I???m here to tell you today that it is now a homicide,??? Lt. Richard Meyers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced Tuesday evening.
Nicholson has not been seen since May 5. ???During the course of the investigation, it became clear that the circumstances were suspicious,??? said Meyers. ???As the investigation progressed, it became very clear to us that Terrell Rhodes was our primary suspect. I???m here to tell you today that Terrell Rhodes has been booked for the murder of Amari Nicholson.???
Police did not say Tuesday evening what relationship Rhodes had to Nicholson or if the child???s body had been recovered. Meyers said that Rhodes ???was briefly able to retrieve an officer???s firearm,??? during a scuffle as the arrest was made, but no shots were fired.
The Clark County Detention Center did not have booking information available for Rhodes Tuesday evening, and it was not clear if he had an attorney.
After the sudden disappearance of Amori Nicholson on 5th of May according to Lt. Richard Meyers and the suspect arrested, the body of the missing boy was found in Las vegas.
“The defendant ended up confessing to the detectives that he abused the child, hit him numerous times, causing his death. The prosecutor Tim Fattig said this at the initial court appearance Wednesday and then ended up hiding the body after this occurrence.
