Senators from Abia, Ohuabunwa, and others lament Ikonne

More residents of Abia State have persisted in expressing their sorrow at the passing of Prof. Uche Eleazar Ikonne, the PDP governorship candidate. On Wednesday, the PDP governorship candidate passed away.
They include the three senators from Abia, Dr. Orji Kalu (Abia North), T. A. Orji (Abia Central), and Enyi Abaribe, who served as the former governor of Abia State and Senate Chief Whip (Abia South).
A businessman, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, and Professor Onyemachi Maxwell Ogbulu, vice chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu, among a few more.
Ikonne was “an accomplished professional in his sector,” according to Kalu, who also said that considering his accomplishments and services to humanity, the late academician “had a fulfilled life.”
Orji, for his part, called the late Ikonne “a good friend, brother, great gentleman and a huge asset of immense worth to the entire PDP family and especially Abia Central Senatorial District which has been most affected by his demise,” adding that Ikonne’s passing “is a terrible pill to swallow.”
In the meantime, Abaribe paused his campaign for three days in memory of the late former vice chancellor of Abia State University.
Abaribe stated, “regardless of political party differences, he must honor the dead who is an eminent son of Abia State, an erudite scholar, and of course his friend,” in a statement released by his media adviser, Uchenna Awom.
“I’m pained and devastated over this development. We belong to different political parties, but he was my friend and brother. It’s very unfortunate and disheartening that he has to die now in the middle of the campaign
“It’s a great loss and one that has put our people in a very difficult political situation. Death is inevitable. God knows the best. Adieu Prof.,” he said.
Ohuabunwa stated, “I must declare that the news of Prof. Ikonne’s tragic passing is the most startling welcome I have ever had.
“I recall seeing him last October during the celebration of Governor Ikpeazu’s birthday; he was vibrant and beaming with smiles, so my astonishment at his poor condition was understandable.
“We had been hoping and praying for him to get better, but the Lord has chosen to take him home.
Prof. Ikonne was a scholar, technocrat, and one of Arabia’s best. It is so bad that you didn’t live to see your TIGER Agenda dream and vision for Abia come true.
