Recent updates to the Cambridge Dictionary modify the definitions of “man” and “woman.”
In its most recent revision, the Cambridge dictionary changed the definitions of “man” and “woman” in two significant ways. The respected dictionary revised its definition of man and woman to include those who might not identify with the sex with which they were born.
The definition of a man has changed recently to read, “an adult who lives and identifies as a male even though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth,” according to the online dictionary.
In the same context, “an adult who lives and identifies as female even though they may have been considered to have a different sex at birth” is now the definition of a woman.
Since the change, the online lexicon has come under heavy fire from internet users who claim it is interfering in sociopolitical matters.
The LGBTQ+ community, on the other side, has praised the development and claims that it would help the community become more widely known.
