People have suffered, focus on pulling them from poverty – Obi tells Otti
By Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for president in the February 25 presidential election, has urged Governor Alex Otti of Abia State to focus on providing excellent governance to the state’s residents, particularly the less fortunate.
According to Obi, the less fortunate people in Nigeria have already gone through enough suffering and pains.
Following a thanksgiving service held in Otti’s honor on Sunday, the former governor of Anambra State revealed this on Monday by posting a statement on his Twitter account.
Obi claimed that he pressed Otti to give top priority to initiatives and regulations that would improve people’s access to healthcare, education, and opportunities to escape poverty.
“Earlier today, I was in Abia State for the Thanksgiving Service of my dear friend and brother, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. @alexottiofr,” he posted. “I took advantage of the chance to urge Gov. Otti to concentrate on providing good governance to the residents of Abia State, especially the less fortunate.
“The less fortunate citizens of Nigeria have already endured enough suffering. Health, education, and poverty alleviation initiatives should receive top priority in programs and policies.
“I do honestly hope that the less fortunate will be as joyful as they are today, celebrating the State’s new dawn and looking forward to a better tomorrow, in the coming four years.
“May God provide him the knowledge, courage, and intelligence he needs to advance the State in all respects. May God bless the wonderful people of Abia State in our collective efforts to create the New Nigeria.”
