Pedestrian robbery suspect in Lagos arrested

The arrest of Azeez Jimoh for robbing people on the street of their goods in the state’s Meiran region was announced by the Lagos State Police Command on Friday.

Jimoh and his crew were committing the crime when they spotted policemen and escaped, according to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer, in a tweet.

The police, according to Hundeying, gave the thieves a vigorous pursuit before apprehending Jimoh and making efforts to catch the gang’s other members.

He said, “On December 15, 2022, around 11.50pm, three men using a motorcycle, while robbing pedestrians, spotted the Meiran Division patrol officers and took to their heels.

“After a hot pursuit, Azeez Jimoh was arrested with a locally-made pistol, three unexpended cartridges, eight stolen phones, a wristwatch, a security chain, padlock and N93,200 cash. Efforts are on to arrest the fleeing two.”

He stated, “On December 15, 2022, at approximately 11.50 p.m., three motorcycle-riding robbers who were targeting pedestrians turned away when they recognized patrol policemen from the Meiran Division.

Azeez Jimoh was apprehended after a tense chase and found in possession of a locally produced pistol, three unfired cartridges, eight stolen phones, a watch, a security chain, a padlock, and N93,200 in cash. The two that are running are being sought after.
