Not Oyetola, but Osun Govt House was robbed by Adeleke’s men – Aide

Ismail Omipidan, a media assistant to Adegboyega Oyetola, the outgoing governor of Osun State, accused Adeleke’s men of plundering Government House in Osogbo yesterday.
Speaking during a press conference in Osogbo, Omipidan called the looting accusation absurd and meant to damage the reputation of his principal.
“If there was any looting, as being claimed by the agents of the new government, then we should look in their direction,” he said, noting that all the items allegedly carted away were intact at the time of handing over.
He claimed that on Saturday, November 19, 2022, his principal stopped sleeping in the Government House, and on November 26, 2022, an inventory was carried out with the assistance of DSS employees who were then stationed there and security personnel working for the new Governor, in particular A. Umale and Pius Akpan.
According to Omipidan, a team from the Protocol Department at the Osun State Governor’s Office in Abere, under the leadership of Mr. Falode, and two officers from the Department of State Services, DSS, namely Usman Adediran and Sunday Posu, painstakingly took the inventory of items in the aforementioned residences on November 26, 2022, at approximately 1400 hours.
The materials were then quietly given to A. UMALE and Pius AKPAN, DSS agents, and the new governor’s security detail, Ademola Adeleke.
The fact that none of the items in the buildings appear to have been carried away and that they were all in tact at the time of handover is also significant.
Therefore, it is absurd to charge my Principal with stealing spoons, a stove, and methylated spirits. From the aforementioned, we should look in the direction of the new government’s agents if there was any looting as stated.
They cannot take over, then come to report that there was looting in the same location where they held their inauguration party on November 27 on Sunday, 72 hours later.
According to Adeleke’s assistant, it’s an effort to transfer blame.
Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for Governor Adeleke, responded quickly and called Omipidan’s assertion propaganda and an effort to place the blame on security personnel.
Olawale said: “It is sad that efforts are being made to place the blame on the Department of State Security Service and the police service after Mr. Ismail Omipidan’s boss, Funke Egbemode, admitted that looting occurred under Oyetola administration.
The most recent propaganda campaign is an afterthought of a robbery that the Osun people, who are the true owners of the assets, managed to catch in the act.
“Video proof was found all over the place and history was written against a squad that shown to be anti-people in every way.
Omipidan’s attempt to shift the blame for the looting onto innocent security agencies that he claimed Oyetola handed over the stolen assets is utterly wicked.
Even in a democratic environment, a departing administration claiming to transfer power to security agencies rather than the incoming administration was unusual. Omipidan afterthought denial is, to put it mildly, humiliating.
