Collection of the Nigerian Postal Service stamp duty is being considered by the Nigerian senate committee on communication. This held at a public hearing on two bills by the Senate on Monday.
This bill will empower the Nigerian postal service to collect stamp duties unbehalf of the federal Government of Nigeria.
This bill becomes necessary as a result of the incessant issues between the Federal inland revenue service and the Nigerian Postal Service, regarding which Nigerian government agency is permitted by law to collect stamp duty in the country.
The new bills has been called: The Nigerian Postal Service Act (Repeal and Establishment) Bill, 2021; and the Nationwide Toll-Free Emergency number (Establishment) Bill, 2021.
