Jandor promises to turn the “Area Boys” of Lagos into useful instruments, if elected
Abdul-Azeez Adediran, the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in Lagos, better known as Jandor has promised to convert louts also known as ‘Area Boys’ to positive tools if elected.
On Sunday, January 29, 2023, during The Platform debate for Lagos governorship candidates, the candidate for governor stated that this will increase security in the state.
“I’ve said it time and time again: I can turn them (the area lads) into tools, but a useful one, especially the ones we gave our parking spaces to in the name of the garage. You’ll see that whenever there is traffic in that corridor, you’ll see individuals robbing our citizens there.
Therefore, I will inform the person in charge of that garage that if I witness anyone robbing people in this hallway, I will take the garage away from them on that day. You’ll observe that they will sit up because they don’t want to loose the money they are making in the garage. We can convert them to that tool, at least,” Jandor said.
In addition, Jandor pledged to implement what he called intellectual community policing, which would, in his view, allow his administration to collect data from residents of the entire state.
He submitted that the best way to tackle insecurity in Lagos is to prevent it.
