General Elections: INEC to speak with NNPC Ltd. over fuel supply concerns

To ensure a sufficient supply of fuel for the next general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that it would meet with the NNPC Ltd. leadership.
Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC chairman, revealed this today in Abuja at a consultation with representatives of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
According to Yakubu, the purpose of the meeting was to devise strategies for guaranteeing an adequate supply of fuel to avoid interfering with INEC’s election-related arrangements.
“The Commission shares your worry about the country’s gasoline situation and how it will affect travel on election day.
The truth is that if some things are unavailable, our arrangements may suffer.
“For this reason, the Commission will this afternoon meet with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) to look into ways to ameliorate the situation,” he said.
Yakubu promised to maintain contact with all national institutions to ensure the success of the elections.
