Four dead, five injured in Michigan State University shooting

After opening fire at Michigan State University on Monday night, the shooter killed three people and injured five more before shooting himself dead miles away during an hours-long manhunt that compelled terrified students to hide in the shadows.
Police reportedly made the announcement of the man’s passing early on Tuesday, four hours after gunfire occurred in Berkey Hall, an academic structure, and subsequently close by at the MSU Union, a popular gathering place for dining and studying.
Shots were fired at roughly 8:18 p.m. local time on Monday, and the Michigan State University Police Department then sent alerts at 8:30 telling people to “run, hide, and fight.”
Three individuals were killed in the incident, while five others had critical injuries, according to the police.
Police were estimated to have locked down about 50,000 university students over the evening as they continued their manhunt for the shooter into the next morning.
Police alerted the public that the shooter, whose identity was not immediately made public, was discovered dead in the early hours of the morning from what seemed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“We are relieved that there is no longer an active danger on campus, but we realize that there is so much healing that will need to take place,” acting deputy chief of the Michigan State University Police Department, Chris Rozman, stated.
But Mr Rozman could not immediately confirm whether the gunman was connected to the university.
