EndSARS: Police reportedly arrest journalist and others as protesters storm Lekki Tollgate

Legit TV reporter identified as Abimbola has reportedly been arrested by police officers during the EndSARS commemorative protest in Lekki Tollgate, Lagos state, where some young Nigerians were allegedly shot dead on October 20, 2020.

Newslodge reports that despite warnings from the Lagos State Police command against the commemorative protest, some activists, including Omoyele Sowore and others, stormed the area on Wednesday morning.

It was learned that the journalist was chosen after not presenting his identity card. In a live video on Facebook, Newslodge saw Abimbola being dragged away by some police officers.

Newslodge’s efforts to reach State Police Public Relations Officer CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu to comment on the incident were unsuccessful at press time as he was unable to take their calls.

However, State Police Commissioner Hakeem Odumosu had said today that the command would deploy all legitimate means to stop or neutralize the protests planned to mark the #EndSARS anniversary.
