Cost of refilling 12.5kg cooking gas hits N12,500
Liquefied petroleum gas, also referred to as cooking gas, now costs 12,500 Naira in Nigeria.
According to a market investigation, gas sellers raised the price for 12.5kg from N9,800 to N12,500 late last month.
In Abuja, the cost of cooking gas was N11,000 for 12.5kg on average two months ago.
The average cost to replenish 12.5kg of liquefied petroleum gas in May 2022, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, was N8,727.30.
Oil and gas specialist Zakka Bala claimed that given how long the industry had been deregulated, price swings were to be expected.
Olatunbosun Oladapo, the President of the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers, has also issued a warning, stating that if regulators do not restrain terminal owners’ operations nationwide, the price of 12.5kg of cooking gas might rise as high as N18,000 by December 2023.
