Convoy of Governor Makinde involved in fatal accident; driver dies; other people hurt

One of Governor Seyi Makinde’s drivers was reportedly killed in a deadly car accident while three other drivers suffered various degrees of injuries.
According to The Nation, the accident happened while the governor was traveling back to Ibadan from Saki, where he had gone to attend a town hall meeting with PDP members in preparation for his second run for reelection in the general elections of 2023.
The driver, Ramon Mustapha, was alleged to have perished instantly after being thrown when his “Zebra 4”-designated vehicle landed after performing multiple somersaults.

It was learned that the driver might have survived if he had buckled up.
The driver apparently suffered a head injury in the collision and passed away instantly, according to a source who was in the convoy and spoke to the publication.
The driver’s remains were later interred at his home in Amuloko, Ibadan, in accordance with Islamic customs on Wednesday.
Taiwo Adisa, the Governor Makinde’s chief press secretary, did not return calls from SaharaReporters or respond to a text message given to him, thus they were unable to confirm the information.
