Anthony Joshua set to battle Jermaine Franklin at the O2 Arena in April
Anthony Joshua, a Nigerian-British heavyweight boxer, will make his comeback on April 1 at the O2 Arena in London against American opponent Jermaine Franklin.
After unifying the WBO, WBA, and IBF heavyweight titles between 2016 and 2018, this will be Joshua’s first fight without a world championship on the line in almost seven years.
But in 2019, his winning streak came to an end when he lost against Andy Ruiz in New York.
Even though he later that year defeated Andy Ruiz to reclaim his titles, Joshua has only won one match since then—a victory over Kubrat Pulev in 2020.
On Monday, Joshua posted on social media to confirm the match, which will air on DAZN.
He appeared to vow that when he steps into the ring on April 1, he will bring a better version of himself by writing “new dawn” on the official bout poster.
