After the Morocco game, Hamann criticizes Ronaldo, saying, “You don’t have dignity.”
The former Manchester United forward’s decision to head straight down the tunnel after his team’s recent 1-0 World Cup quarterfinal loss to Morocco has drawn criticism from Liverpool great Dietmar Hamann.
As the first African country to go to a World Cup semifinal, Hamann stated that Ronaldo lacked even the decency to thank Morocco for their accomplishment.
Recall that Portugal fell 1-0 to Morocco in the World Cup quarterfinal last weekend, and despite coming off the bench, Ronaldo was unable to save his team.
The first-half goal by Youssef En-Nesyri helped the Atlas Lions defeat Portugal in Qatar.
Ronaldo, 37, immediately walked down the tunnel in tears after the final whistle.
Speaking on RTE, Hamann stated, “You talk about these celebrities, top incomes, top players, and one of the greatest players who departed the scene about a week ago in Ronaldo.
He was unable to even congratulate them following the game.
He didn’t even have the decency to applaud Morocco for what they had accomplished when they won the game and made history.
“Now watch them as they shake hands with the French and display grace and humility despite losing. Brilliant.”
