Babajide sanwo-olu the Lagos State Governor has announced that 500 Last Mile Buses will be provided in the state.
They will serve as an optional means to get into the inner street of Lagos as against the commercial motorcycle (Okada).
Junril Gawat said the rollout will continue until their target of 5000 buses is made available.
Speaking with a stakeholder on security in Alausa Ikeja, Sanwo Olu said his administration has plans to review the traffic law guiding motorcyclists in the state.
We have noted with dismay the fact that motorcyclists are disrespecting and disobeying the restrictions imposed on their activities in some of the metropolises. He said he has observed the ongoing activities between okada and law enforcement agencies.
This lawlessness’s he said is not who we are as Lagosians. Order must be strictly adhered to for the safety of the people according to the restrictions placed on motorcyclists last year to curb their menace in the state.
Their activities and that of the tricycle have been banned in some key roads, highways, and local government but sadly these rules have not been kept. We aim to achieve a Greater Lagos. Ladies and gentlemen let me remind you of our commitment as the government that wants to maintain laws and orders in society.
Therefore based on this and the numerous activities of motorcyclists, we have decided to roll out the use of buses to convey people within Lagos especially the inner street.
