2023 election: Peter Obi’s campaign Director dumps him, vows to support Atiku

Just two weeks before the presidential election, Alhassan Bawu, a director of the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential campaign council in Bauchi State, left the organization.

Bawu switched parties and joined the PDP.

Bawu explained his choice by saying he joined the PDP to support Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate.

He claimed that all of the LP’s Northeast leaders had switched to the PDP when speaking with journalists in Bauchi on Tuesday.

He revealed that the defectors thought Atiku was capable of leading Nigeria.

According to Bawu, the LP’s decision to defect to the PDP was caused by a lack of organization at the ward, local, and state levels.

We don’t think the LP is strong enough to win even one seat in the North-East, he remarked.

“We are formally announcing that the North-East Labour Party executives are joining the PDP in favor of Atiku.

We don’t want to waste our votes, so we’re using this time to mobilize support for candidates that have a chance of winning.
